I was beginning to think my tale about Ron Stricker running for Johnson County Sheriff was all in my head. I swore I heard it on the news, and then I scoured the Internet all day yesterday trying to determine if I told the truth on my blog!
Good news. I was telling the truth. Whew.
Anyway, for those interested, here's a Facebook page to prove it.
Personally, I don't think he stands much of a chance. He faces Calvin Hayden, a former sheriff's deputy and county commissioner, in the Republican primary.
Stricker doesn't have any law enforcement experience, and I would say limited name recognition. However, he does have cash, and I've been wrong before!
Actually, tons and tons of people know Ron through his profession and through charity work. Nobody knows Calvin Hayden. He won in 2008 over John Toplikar by a few votes because of false press about Toplikar. He got his butt kicked in 2012 by Toplikar 70-30. He got beat for De Soto school board. He's the weakest candidate Frank Denning could have put up. How'd he even get to be a deputy? He doesn't seem bright.
ReplyDeleteHayden hasn't been in law enforcement in almost a decade and if you talk to deputies, they don't like Hayden or Denning.
Ron is probably going to win.
