Kansas GOP Insider (wannabe): Up and Down the Ballot

Up and Down the Ballot

I'm going to strongly discourage anyone who says they are pro-life from voting for ANY candidates endorsed by the Kansas National Education Association.

Despite the disappearance of an abortion clinic voter guide, the guide did exist. (Link is to the first guide. I do not have a downloaded version of the organization's corrected guide.)

Of course, the biggest dust-up from related to that guide was in the Big First Congressional race. The guide (possibly erroneously) listed Roger Marshall as "pro-choice" before a second publishing listed the Great Bend Doctor as "anti-choice." As that race is incredibly heated--please make sure to vote tomorrow, Big Firsters--that became the flash point of the voter guide.

But perhaps the greatest bit of information to be gained from the guide is this:

"KNEA--Kansas National Education Association. Typically aligned with Trust Women and pro-choice stance."

Strangely, KNEA's legislative agenda makes no mention of being pro-abortion, but it's worth noting that so far, I've seen no request anywhere from KNEA officials requesting that the Trust Women Foundation retract its statement about KNEA being generally supportive of the Trust Women mission--advocating for abortion.

Conservatives always suspected that the KNEA wasn't really for children. It's for the wholesale of children's body parts. Any teachers who are members of this revolting organization should rethink their membership, like yesterday. And parents, you may wish to reconsider sending your students to a school in which the vast majority of the staff is apparently engaged via their paychecks in advocating for abortion.

Here's a quick list of the candidates that Trust Women called "KNEA bipartisan allies." If you are a Republican, pro-life voter, I strongly urge you to consider backing the other option, if there's a choice. I've highlighted the candidates I feel confident are pro-life below.

Kansas Senate 11

Jeff Melcher--KFL endorsed
John Skubal--"Bipartisan ally. KNEA recommended."

Kansas Senate 14

Forest Knox--KFL endorsed
Bruce Givens --"Bipartisan ally. KNEA recommended."

Kansas Senate 15

Virgil Peck--KFL endorsed

Kansas Senate 21

John C. Price-- New candidate. No current record or stance on choice. Farmer and businessman.

Kansas Senate 25

William Eveland--KFL recommended. However, takes a stance not to let his personal choices inhibit his ability to represent constituents.
Jim Price -- KFL recommended. Strongly anti-choice.

(Gidget's thoughts: Anyone want to explain what on earth that soft endorsement of both candidates from KFL means? KFL refused to co-endorse in Johnson County Sheriff's race, but they'll co-endorse in that race? Hmm. I'd be happy to have some insight.)

Kansas Senate 26

Dan Kerschen--KFL endorsed AND KNEA recommended.
Bryon Dunlavy--"New candidate.  No current record or stance on choice. Recent high school graduate."

Kansas Senate 27

Gene Sullentrop -- KFL recommended.

Jo L. Hillman --"Bipartisan ally. KNEA recommended."

Kansas Senate 30

Renee Erickson--KFL recommended.
Carolyn McGinn --"Incumbent. Anti-choice voting record, but bipartisan ally and KNEA recommended."

(Gidget's thoughts: Does anyone else find it weird that Trust Women will basically endorse a candidate that it says has an anti-choice voting record? Somehow the KNEA recommendation is a substitute? What am I missing?)

Kansas Senate 33

Larry Salmans--KFL recommended.
Mary Jo Taylor --"Bipartisan ally. Unsure that she favors choice, but believes no more legislation should be introduced about choice."

Kansas Senate 34

Terry Bruce --KFL recommended.

  1. District 39 (western Shawnee): Owen Donohoe earned KFL's endorsement in 2006, 2008 and 2010 when he was District 39 Representative. Due to the provision in KFL's bylaws that it must endorse the incumbent among pro-life candidates, Donohoe understands the organization cannot do endorse him this time. However, Owen Donohoe views the pro-life issue as much more than politics. He supported KFL long before he was a candidate, something Incumbent Macheers and Mrs. Brim cannot say. In 2016, Owen Donohoe earned KFL's Special Recognition award for his lifelong contributions to the pro-life cause. The voters should know all these facts. http://repdonohoe.com/news/kfl-pro-life-leadership

    1. No one who voted Donohoe would have voted for the faux Republican - Donohoe and Macheers took almost 60% of the vote.
