Are Dems Sabotaging One of Their Own?

Democrats may be quietly helping Barbara Bollier's election efforts. Bollier,  a Republican, posted on Facebook the other day that she actively campaigned for Paul Davis when he ran against Gov. Sam Brownback.

Now Bollier is in a fight for her political life. She faces Megan England, a Democrat and city council woman from Roeland Park. The two are competing for the seat that Sen. Kay Wolf vacated, but Bollier has served in the Kansas House since 2010. Also, Bollier is a doctor.

Johnson County hasn't sent a person registered as a Democrat to the state Senate in 40 years, and now on the cusp of realizing a dream, it appears the Kansas Dems may have gone wobbly. I don't know how else to read the tea leaves on Paul Davis confirming for the Topeka Capital-Journal that Bollier did campaign door-to-door for him in 2014. Davis could have chosen not to answer his phone for the next 5 days. Instead, he took a reporter's call and assisted Bollier.

According to the rumor mill, Davis is counting on Bollier's assistance when he mounts another gubernatorial run. Bollier, I'm told, is Davis' pipeline to Republican money in Johnson County. (The rumor  mill goes into overdrive in the days leading up to an election. I have NO idea whether this rumor is true. But if so, shudder. Who ARE these people that Davis can't bring to a table without Bollier's help? I don't get people with money... yet.)

  1. It might not be Bollier but I'd put good odds on the next Democrat nominee for governor is a Republican who switches parties to run.
