This makes me feel all puke-y

The Lawrence Journal-World crashed a freshman Republican House member campaign workshop. The story makes me feel a little queasy.

Two points from the story are sitting in my stomach like day-old pizza left outside in the rain.

1. The out-front sprint for lobbyist money:

"House Majority Leader Jene Vickrey, R-Louisburg, told the freshman class the more campaign contributions they collect this year the less likely they will face a challenger next year.
He said lobbyists are watching the political landscape. "If they see that you are strong and aren't going to lose, when you're opponent asks XYZ lobbyist for money, they are not likely to send them a check," Vickrey said."

2. The timing. Um. Shouldn't they, you know, finish the current session first? I don't want to be nit-picky, especially against Team Conservative, which includes Karl Hansen, nice guy; David Kensinger, dresses kind of wacky; Peggy Mast, the one woman in Topeka that the conservatives actually listen to and appear to respect; and Jene Vickrey, a fairly down-to-earth politician.

But if conservative, Tea Partier, little-old-me, is thinking this candidate school move looks jerk-ish, what do they think members of the media and Democrats will do with the story?
