No Really. These Judges Must Go

Kansans for Justice will host two rallies today. The rally will kick off a campaign to vote no to retain Kansas Supreme Court Justices. This will be the most important issue on Kansans’ ballots in November. (#KeepCaleb)

The first rally is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka. A second rally will be at 3 p.m. at the Parents of Murdered Children Memorial Monument in North Riverside Park in Wichita.

Rally speakers will include friends and family members of the Carr brothers’ victims.

The Carr brothers robbed, tortured seven people. They killed five of them. A Kansas jury convicted the brothers, and they were sentenced to death in 2012. Enter the Kansas Supreme Court. Justices overturned the sentences, requiring new trials.

The U.S. Supreme Court reversed the Kansas Supreme Court decision. The U.S. Supreme Court has reversed every death penalty decision of the Kansas court.

Five Kansas Justices will be up for retention on Nov. 8. Judges Nuss, Luckert, Beier, and Biles should be tossed. We can do better, and Kansans deserve better. You can assist in this effort at the link.

  1. The Supreme Court ruling overturned the death sentence and would have had them re-sentenced.

Their conviction was not overturned. They would not have received a new trial. If you are going to write about this type of thing, at least be accurate so that you do not confuse people that aren't following things as closely as you claim.
