 So, the Whining Whiners Who Whine™ were all worked up because Mean Kansas Legislators created a policy that limited ATM cash withdrawals for those on welfare to $25. 

I could never get all that worked up about any of it. Give me free money and I can make it work no matter how you dole it out. $25 dollars a day, whatever. I can be patient when I'm waiting for money you're just going to give me for existing.

So, there was a lot of screaming and gnashing of teeth, because people on "Temporary Assistance for Needy Families" were going to suffer and probably starve if they could only access $25 in cash per day via their local ATM. 

So, somehow and for some reason that is very confusing to me, Kansas Department for Children and Families Secretary reached out to the federal Administration for Children and Families to seek "guidance" on the $25 ATM daily cash withdrawal limit.

The "guidance" suggested that the cash limit "would seem to prevent a needy TANF family from having adequate access to their cash assistance."

I don't even know what that means. Seriously, what does that mean? And why, Secretary Gilmore, do you need some federal bureaucrat to tell you this? It's baffling. 

In a stunning turn of events, the feds also determined that Kansas could lose its TANF block grant if the limit remained in place. (Not stunned. Not really.) 

So you're telling me the feds want to tell Kansas how to work its budget and are doing so with the threat of revoking some federal funds? It's almost like someone just released a paper that said something kind of just like that. 

But Gilmore has some useful advice for people using the assistance.

"Although there is no ATM withdrawal limit in place, we encourage clients to use their assistance for necessities as they work toward self-sufficiency through our employment service plans," Gilmore said.
