Recycling Old Stories Like They're New

The Secretary of State's Office asked a judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by an angry former employee.

Courtney Canfield filed the federal suit last summer. This is a fairly old story, rehashed for your summer reading, here. Canfield alleges she was fired because she didn't attend church.

The Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rucker says she was fired for repeated absences, excessive cell phone usage, unaccounted time away from her desk, and workplace disruptive.

Here's what I wrote about it last year:

It's just so hip these days to complain about Republicans in Kansas. Such is the case of Courtney Canfield and her lawsuit against the Kansas Secretary of State's Office.

Canfield is alleging in a lawsuit that Deputy Secretary of State Eric Rucker canned her for refusing to attend church. (By the way, Canfield says she's a Methodist. I do not know why this is relevant.)
